The Purpose of Nagano AJET

The driving purpose of NAJET is to foster and strengthen working and personal relationships between members living throughout Nagano. We do this by hosting regular social and cultural events as well as providing a platform to share member created materials and content such as lesson plans, articles, pictures, and more. Nagano AJET promotes community and peer fellowship, provides support/resources, and acts as a representative body of private hires, direct hires, and third-party companies within the English teaching community. We have ambitious plans to build premium quality resources to assist English teachers working in Nagano, an abundant social network throughout Nagano, and provide knowledge and resources for everyday living to make your time in Nagano as satisfying and rewarding as possible.

As the bulk of members are English teachers living in Nagano, the committee is committed to providing English teaching resources like in our collaborative Lesson Share system, as well as a multitude of articles focused on teaching in Japanese schools and general information about living in Nagano.

Our Goals:

Create a social support network for international residents living in Nagano.
Moving to a foreign country so far from home can be intimidating and lonely, but it doesn\'t have to be when you move to Japan. Nagano AJET cultivates strong connections and social opportunities which can make Nagano feel like home and our community feel like family.

Provide resources to help foreigners have an easier and more enjoyable life in Nagano as well as smoother transitions moving to and from.
We are constantly improving our resources to keep them as up to date and as relevant as possible. Providing easy to understand but detailed guides to better navigate the ins and outs of life in Japan to assist in breaking through the cultural barriers a foreigner may face in their daily lives in Japan. Of course, curating teaching aides, lesson plans, and other time saving materials for English Teachers.

Connect members to their local communities and introduce them to what the prefecture has to offer.
By curating a database of local information of each district in Nagano, getting involved in your local community and taking part in the rich culture and activities surrounding you is now accessible and effortless.

Give back to the community:
At least once a year we host a charity event, raising money for local and national charities at our Autumn/Thanksgiving banquet.

Have Fun!
