Nagano Covid Omicron Response/Advise

Author: Lexi

Nagano Prefecture has a robust COVID-19 record and alert system that is updated daily.

The Nagano Prefecture alert levels are broken up into 6 categories, each with corresponding effects:

  • Level 6 – Quasi-Emergency (maroon)
  • Level 5 – Special Warning II (purple)
  • Level 4 – Special warning (red)
  • Level 3 – Warning (orange)
  • Level 2 – Advisory (yellow)
  • Level 1 – (white)

Early on in the pandemic, Nagano developed campaigns to encourage residents to stay in their home more often and avoid the “Three C’s”; closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings. This “Stay at Home” campaign was subsequently joined by other projects and programs aimed at curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, such as “お家で長野” or “Nagano From Home”, a tourism promotion project made up mainly of videos and photos shared online to allow anyone to explore Nagano from the comfort of their own home.

Nagano has experienced hardship and difficulties throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. As of January 2022, the prefecture has begun rolling out booster shots for individuals who have already received their first two COVID vaccines. If you received your initial two jabs in Nagano, please consider making an appointment in your municipality for a booster shot as well.
